Thank you so much for coming up.
OK hi everyone, thank you so much for coming out to this year's orientation live video cast. Hopefully we can answer all of your questions for you guys with some really valuable information, so I'm just going to start this off with some introductions we today. We have Carly Taylor who is the area coordinator from the Office of Residence Life. Carly say hi.
Good evening everyone. I'm really excited to get the opportunity to share some information about residence life tonight with you.
OK, and next we have Aaron Lopez. He's one of our academic advisors. Say hi Aaron.
Hi good evening everyone. My name's Aaron Lopez. I'm a first year advisor with the Academic Success Center.
OK, and then next we have the CEO White. She's the coordinator for the office of Orientation and Family Engagement.
Hi everyone, my name is Lucia White and I serve as the coordinator, orientation and family agent. Like Kayla said, we're so excited to have you. Please make sure you use the chat feature to pop US questions as we go on or the questions tab or just to say hi. Let us know where you're from and where you're logging in from tonight and we're really excited to have you all here.
OK, and then we also have two student volunteers. We have kianna Scarborough and Marcella. Mark lekarski. Say hi guys.
Hey guys, hope interconference.
Peterson I work for the office.
And then on Kayla Peterson I work for the office of Orientation at Family engagement as well. And now we can get started.
So the first thing that I wanted to go over is the Spartan checklist you want to make sure that you have your health forms, your student ID photo, your financial clearance, dual enrollment transcripts if needed, and then your final high school transcripts. The only one that does have a specific deadline is the financial clearance, which is needed by August 26.
OK, and then you want to have any of your colleges or any AP classes, send us the official transcripts with the completed courses or your official AP scores as well.
And then the transcripts you need to be officially mailed or sent electronically by the official high school organization or college, and they need to be sent after the courses are completed. UT will do an official transfer credit evaluation and you can view your AP score requirements on www.ut.edu.

Hi everyone! We are so excited you are here. Let us know what questions you have, where you are watching from and get ready to learn!
To pay your bill, you want to view your bill on my utampa. It can be a little tricky at first, but Umm, you'll get used to it. You can set-up your tuition payment plan there. I use that. It's very helpful. It's really pretty easy to set-up and pretty easy to kind of manage throughout the semesters. You can set-up your loans as well and then you contact the bursar's office at bursar at ut.edu if you have any questions about a bill or tuition payment plan options. You can also look on the UT website for the Bursar's phone number, or any other ways to contact.
Purser or Financial aid office as well, and then you can contact the Financial aid office at Finn aid FINAIDE atut.edu if you have any questions about your loans, grants or scholarships and how to accept their deny those.
We also have an online orientation for all these students as posted on the orientation website and opens August 1st. It contains 7 different modules, academic services, academics, safety and security, student life Support services, university policies and next step as well.
Hi everyone, I'm Marcela going to be a sophomore student in the fall when it comes to that Everfi Wellness program. You will have to do a couple things before you get to campus, so there are numerous ways to access this everfi Wellness program. First, you're going to check your e-mail to access the invitation from other everify you're going to click on the link and understood student learner. You're going to enter the registration code, which is under 26 and click next to create your everfi
account when prompted, you're going to enter your University of Tampa ID number also in your e-mail and my U Tampa to receive credit for completion. The Part 1 alcohol Edu ASAP undergrad and prescription drugs courses must be completed by August 29th, 2022 so before right when you're arriving to campus and then you will get an invitation for a link for the second part of it. It will open July 25th. You'll receive that invitation to complete.
Part two of all three courses, which are very short. The second part is and they must be completed before the start of the bluesmaster, and if you already have an everfi account, you can go to that account and enter the registration code to add another course.
I was like that's not coming back on, and even though we have this for the students today and we probably have some families on the call as well, we actually have our own family orientation hosted for our families. Parents support systems for our students. So this is a free online experience for the upcoming spring or the upcoming fall semester happening on Tuesday, August 2nd and it's from 5:00 to 6:30 PM and it's through an online webinar.
All information that is presented is intended to help you with your transition and helping your new student transition. As we said, the program is free and allows you all to hear from key university officials and learn important information. Registration can be found on our website at orientation slash family and it's due by Thursday, July 28th and no worries if you cannot attend, we will post a video recording of the session just like we post one of this. Following the event after about.
One or two weeks, so please make sure you sign up if you haven't already. We're really excited to get to talk to the families as well.
It's so funny, did they come to get the kids?
OK, next you want to talk a little bit about the week of welcome. I actually work with the week of welcome. I spent a lot of time putting it all together and kind of putting it on so I'm very excited. I hope you see me. Be sure to say hi. I'll be very excited to have it actually all come together and see it all in person.
All right, hopefully we'll be done soon.
So we have an academic convocation, Expos and fairs and off campus shopping trip to IKEA, which I'm very excited for. You actually get to go to IKEA and it's a whole event. It's not just dropping you off at IKEA like we do with our target or Walmart trip, so that's very exciting. And then we have our first Spartan sunset and you get to watch the sunset with some of your peers and other incoming students. So I'm very excited to put that on as well.
Fantastic and now we get the opportunity to talk a little bit about living on campus. So the mission of the Office of Residence Life is to foster an inclusive residential community and a dynamic learning experience that promotes student development and academic success. So we want this to be more than just a place where you go to sleep at night. We want this to be somewhere you love living and you're able to really succeed and thrive. You're at your time at the University of Tampa, so we're going to have an opportunity to meet some different staff members that we have. First we have area coordinators, which I serve as the area coordinator for the Barrymore.
Hotel here on campus. We also have resident assistants which are student staff members. If you're ever interested in becoming a resident assistant, please feel free to talk to any of the area coordinators and any of the buildings that you live in or any of the areas on your floor and we also have the office of Residence Life which has our residence life leadership and it also has student staff members from that are our office assistants, so there are some of our residents life information.
And then now we'll talk about the different residence halls that we have on campus. Those that are highlighted in red are predominantly first year halls, so that's going to be Austin Hall, the boathouse McKay Hall, which is our honors community Morsani Smiley Hall, which houses two of our living learning communities living well. And then our alcohol and drug free living learning community. And then the von Center, the other residence halls that we have on campus where our upper class and intend to stay will be the Barrymore Hotel, Brevard Hall, Jenkins Hall, Palm Apartments, Straz Hall and Urso.
Well, so lots of different opportunities to live on campus here at the University of Tampa.
As far as our amenities, we offer many different services to our students. First, we have free Internet access all across campus and at the Barrymore, so anywhere that you are, you'll hopefully be able to connect. Get your classes done. Watch some things with your friends. Really be able to engage. We also provide free laundry service all across campus, which is serviced by CSC and outside company that we utilize. There are also housekeeping cleaning services for students rooms which happens once a week so they tend to go in. Do a quick little sanitation help you maintain.
The cleanliness of your space and then each student is provided their own individual mailbox here on campus through our mail Services Office, which is in our Southern family building located at 401 W Kennedy Blvd. You can send your student their individual packages. You can ship things early if you'd like, and you can ship them to their individual mailbox, which should be listed on their work day.
As far as our operations, we utilize residence by simplicity and this is our student portal for all of our different residents life processes. When you select your housing selection, moving forward as you're an upperclassman on campus and if you want to look at your roommate groups and any information about where you're currently living and to access any applications to live on campus or any applications to move. If you're interested in that, all of that can be found on our residence by simplicity page, which is located on your myu Tampa portal. As far as room changes, which some of you may be interested in.
I may have some questions about. We will have an open room change process that will start the second to third week of each semester. So we ask that you get moved in. You get settled in your space and as soon as you're there we're able to see what's available and we can help move you so that information will be sent and it will be a little bit more detailed as we get closer and that will be sent via e-mail and posted in the residence halls. So if you have questions that move in, please feel free to ask any of the professionals that are there and give you some of that information as well. As far as your meal plan changes, all residential students are required to have a meal plan now.
How much of a meal plan you need to have depends on how long or what building you live in, but these can be changed up until the third week of the semester. So if you get through that first week and you're like I think I need a little bit more, or if you get through that first week and you know you're not gonna finish all of those, there's a way to change that and you can have some more information about our meal plans at www.dining at ut.com.edu so.
As far as your room, we want you to decorate it and feel as comfortable as you want. We do prohibit you bringing anything that will adhere to the wall that we'll call it cause damage. The number one thing which I know this might break your heart are going to be those sticky adhesive, LED lights, LED adhesives, lights and stickies like that can cause wall damage and paint damage that you don't want to have to deal with at the end of the semester. But you can decorate it however you'd like, so if you want the LED lights that do not stick to the wall, we'd love for you to bring those and help decorate your space.
Uh, so we ask that you don't bring wall stickers. Things of that sort now. Command strips are normally good, so there are some options for you and we do have these all listed on our website as well. We ask that you do not move any large furniture into your rooms. You are more than welcome to show up. See what you have in the space and then we have some target. Walmart, IKEA trip, even sponsored by the office hosting orientation. So we would love for you to have the opportunity to check out the space first and then you can feel free to bring whatever you think will make you feel comfortable.
We ask that you submit facilities requests. If you would like to lower or raise your bed at all, and then if you have a roommate concern. We work directly with students to resolve roommate issues so students will be asked to work with their RA 1st and then your area coordinator to mediate any issues and then room changes may be granted during the year depending on what space is available now. As far as the guest policy, we would love for you to bring your friends, family people into the space, but they must be. It must be with the consent of your roommate.
As well, so as long as you and your roommate are both comfortable, you're more than welcome to have a guest, and you must have support that guest throughout the building. So as long as you're willing to stick it out with them and your roommate is OK with it, we're excited for you to have guests and bring them into the halls.
So our move and appointments are done via Eventbrite. If you are part of an approved early move in Group, your group organizer has worked with residents life to set-up an early move in time. These are very specific groups, so you should know if you are a part of it and you should have already received some information about that. However, our big move in where we're all going to be ready and jazz to see you is going to be for new students. Wednesday, August 24th through Friday, August 26th. During the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM we have specific move in slots through that Eventbrite.
So we just recommend that you check that out. We really recommend that you do not arrange travel until you've confirmed your movement appointment, because we've got a lot of students that are really excited to be here, so we want to make sure that you are traveling to a time that works to where we're going to be able to give you all the attention that you need. When you're here, students and guests are encouraged to bring your own PPE, so whatever that looks like for you, and however comfortability you feel, those that are not fully vaccinated, should wear facial coverings during move in. If you would like, I think, and then you are able to have.
To people with you. We currently do not have a mask mandate, so that is all by your comfortability and then we encourage students to only bring essential items into the residence halls. So don't would as you first move in. Please don't bring large furniture moving and box trucks are not permitted on campus, so you are more than welcome to bring your own vehicle to unload. But any of those large moving trucks through large companies like UHAUL or college hunks or anything like that. Those are not allowed on campus during these move in times due to high traffic. So in addition to that, move in assistance will be provided.
With moving parts for some from some fantastic offices on campus, so that's a little bit about residence life.
Hi so my name is Kiana. I'm also going to be a sophomore here at UT and I'm sorry some first month FYI is the add and drop period. So Monday, August 29th to Sunday, September 4th at 11:59 PM with 100% tuition, credit, meal plan changes. It can be changed up until the third week of classes. Just complete the request form on the residence by simplicity app on your Mayo Tampa and give it about two days to.
Process your request room swaps begins the second same the third week of campus. I'm listing limited rooms. Swap options will be available and complete. It also through the Residence Life Office.
And vehicle registration. In case you don't already know, first year students cannot have a car on campus unless you are a commuter, so make sure you register your car. If you are a computer.
I mean, if you are a commuter.
And some tips for success is to participate in week of welcome events. I know everybody says, you know, get out of your comfort zone, but it really does help. I did it and it it helped a lot. Make sure you read through all of your syllabi. I suggest going on classroom tours because it is such a big campus so you can get lost easily. So I definitely recommend that. Don't feel free to ask questions and about the classes and the campuses if you have any familiar, familiarize yourself with the code of conduct that's also very important.
And don't be like me and lose your Spartan ID card because it sucks and you will have to buy a new one.
Hey and just to touch further on the week of welcome events, I would really love to see so many of your new faces there. We put so much work into them and I promise they're fun. And if you go and you don't know anyone if you see me there I'm always there. I'm really talkative person so I'll be happy to talk to you, show you around, kind of introduce you hang out with you with these events and everything else.
OK, now we're going to go into the Q&A portion of this event. Please use the chat function and then you can use the question Q&A function as well. We'll see if you put it in a chat or the questions we're monitoring both, so we'll try to get to all your questions that you're asking.
OK, so let's start with the first questions.
First question came from Kevin and he asked what are the cafeteria hours?
You can find all the dining hall hours for various locations at dining.ut.edu and sometimes those hours do change due to holidays or breaks or anything, so I recommend checking just to make sure that you're always up to date with the different hours and the changing hours and everything.
OK, the next question comes from Michael. He asks what is what? If I have not gotten my ever FI e-mail yet. If you have not received your e-mail from ever five then you can please contact Wellness at Wellness at ut.edu. I'll repeat that again. The e-mail is wellness@ut.edu and they can get you your access.
The next question comes from Jane, how can you tell if our high schools did in fact, send the AP scores and transcripts? Erin, do you want to take this one?
Yeah, go ahead and take this one so I don't work in admissions or the registrar's office, but I have familiarity with this process as an advisor. So to answer that question, there's just a couple of different layers of of from start to finish for the university receiving the the credit, the transcripts or the AP credit, and then evaluation by the Registrar's office and then.
Friendly to where the it's visible by the students, so an initially you you're high schools or you need to order the transcript either from the university or College Board. It goes to UT admissions at admissions at ut.edu. They receive it, they do whatever processing.
Lucia White
07:19:35 PM
Dining hours can be found at dining.ut.edu
Systems that they that they utilize and then it gets forwarded to the Registrar's office who interprets the transcripts and evaluates what courses and AP you know, tests that you've completed and determine alright which UT courses are equivalent to what you're bringing in? And then once that's evaluated, the way that you can be able to to see if that's been done is you can log into your work day account.
And if you click on academics.
And academic progress report. You should see a list of all the courses and you know, including AP scores or transfer credit that's being. That's been evaluated and accepted by UT. Another thing you could do if if it hasn't reached that point yet, is you can contact admissions to confirm that they've actually received the the credit.
OK, thank you. The next question comes from Sophia. She asks where will this video be posted as well as the family orientation. Thank you.
This video will be posted on the orientation and family engagement pages at uc.edu. You'll have the videos of all of these programs, so the one we mentioned earlier we posted there as well.
And then Angelina asked she lives off campus with her parents. Will I be allowed to use the UT parking? Where can I get more information about how to get the permit for parking?
So I was going to say no, you're good Kayla. So I was about to say so yes, you are more than welcome to Park on campus. But our first year students only first year commuter students can have a car on campus. So if you are a first year residential student we do not allow cars on campus. If you have questions about your eligibility of having a car in a parking permit, we recommend that you reach out to campus safety. So that way you can register your car, get any information you have and they help determine that eligibility for you. But if you are a first year residential
student, you are unable to park on campus. But first, your commuter students are more than welcome.
OK, thank you and then our next question comes from Juliana. She asked our masks required in an area of the campus selection. Any classes. So as we touched on in the presentation, there currently is no mass mandate. If you don't feel comfortable without a mask, you're more than welcome to wear one and any of our communal settings outside, inside classrooms or anything. But I think currently no mandate so masks are not required.
OK, then someone asked do we have any pictures of the Austin Hall dorms?
So if you want to look at any pictures or any videos or information about your specific residence hall, those are all listed on our Residence life website, so it's listed, right? Oh, wait is not listed, but if you go to our, if you go to the University of Tampa website and you look at residence life, there are pictures and information on each residence hall individually, so hopefully that will provide more information about Austin Hall for you.
OK, and then we also got asked are you allowed to nail things on the wall?
So nails and screws are not recommended of these can cause small holes that may result in a damaged charge at the end of the semester. So kind of the same thing as the sticky LED lights and anything that could cause permanent damage to the wall. We do not recommend you bring so we ask that. You either use that blue painters tape or that you utilize like command strips or something similar so we really ask that you don't like that you don't use nails, but.
OK yeah, just to reiterate, we've got a few more questions about that, so just once again, nails are screws. Really not recommended.
So we got asked can you talk a little bit more about the laundry service? How do they provide, how frequently, etc. So the laundry service is current, the cost of laundry is currently free for residents on campus and then for our laundry service.
Has keeping welcome clean. The bathroom is weekly and then Carly can talk a little bit more about the actual laundry service.
So what I mean services? I mean the washers and dryers that you can utilize yourself as a student to wash your clothes. Now there are local laundry services that you're more than welcome to use, but those are not affiliated with the university and those are completely separate. So I apologize for my language if that made any confusion, but as far as laundry services, we have laundry rooms in each building that have free laundry.
Washers and dryers. For our students on campus. So all you need to do is bring your own detergent and dry your sheets and you're more than welcome to use the machines all across campus, but these are for our residential students so.
Lucia White

Everfi trouble? Contact wellness@ut.edu
OK, thank you and then I'm seeing a bunch of questions come in again about if you haven't received you ever via e-mail, I just want to reiterate that you should have to contact Wellness as the e-mail as Wellness at ut.edu and just send them an e-mail to them that you haven't received your everify e-mail. They can get you access directly, so if you have any issues just send them the e-mail. They should be able to resolve it for you.
OK, and then received a question about printers. Marcy If you want to take that over.
I can answer that one, so printing is really easy. I recommend not bringing your printer because we already know you're going to be bringing a ton of things and we have printers in every residence hall and other places on campus. Basically, you'll access the web print link that is in your Mayu Tampa account. Send what file whatever you want to print to that link, press send and you can swipe your ID at any of those printers on campus and your document will come out for you so it's really easy.
Printing is included. It is that you have a $30 credit per semester when it comes to printing, however, the pages are like $0.10 and I print it all the time and I never ran out of my credit. However, if you do, it is refillable.
OK, thank you Ellie asks. Is there a shuttle to and from the airport from campus? There is no airport shuttle or anything like that. The airport is relatively close. I have always just had friends drive me or I've ordered an Uber. They're very cheap. It's at the most maybe 10 minutes away, so that shouldn't be too big of an issue, but there is no shuttle that will bring you to and from the airport.
OK, and then Christian asks is parking easily accessible since I'll be commuting to campus?
Kiana, do you want to touch on that one?
Umm yeah, so when you are a first year student and you are commuter so you can bring your car on campus, there's a bunch of parking lots where we can park our cars. A lot of them are close to the buildings where your classes are going to be, so that's pretty cool. You don't have to walk too far so.
And then parking is pretty accessible. There's three parking garages. There's a Thomas parking garage, the Delaware parking garage, and another parking garage as well. I haven't had any issues ever finding parking in them. There's always spots available if there's no spots on the very first floor, you can always just go up a floor. I've never really had any trouble. They're all in great areas. They're never too far from your classes or anything, so I really have never had any trouble with parking. I've commuted the last two years and I would recommend it.
OK, and then we got a question about how to change your major keana don't take that one as well.
Sure, I'm so I've changed my major twice now and it's it's gonna be on your work day if you just go there. And I believe it's under academics.
They should have a section to do all of that kind of stuff, and if you ever have any questions, of course you can just contact your academic advisor.
Yeah, and just real quick to add on to that for incoming freshmen for the fall. I know some of you have already requested to change your major. There's an online form that change is not gonna be reflected in your work day until your matriculation date, which is August 20th. So if you submitted the the the major change and it's still showing your old major don't worry, look for the change on August 20th and then after that point if it hasn't reflected then definitely contact your advisor.
OK, thank you and then for any questions regarding package mailing you would contact mail services. But you would just mail them directly to our campus with your students box number, which can be found in their residence and from there you can just ship them things ahead of time. Ship them that things during classes. Never had any trouble getting things my parents have shipped me things during the semesters before the semesters, so it's really efficient and I've shipped things as big as rugs. I've had two different rugs delivered there and I didn't have any issues.
OK, and then we got a few questions about the Spartan and U dollars. Marcie you want to take that one.
Yes, so each meal plan that you would have on campus as a freshman. Either the unlimited meal plan, 15 swipes weekly meal plan or the 12 meet weekly meal plan come with a different variety of Spartan dollars. For example, if you have the most common one, the 15 weekly swipes, then you will have 100 Spartan dollars per semester. Those Spartan dollars can be used at any of the dining options on campus for something that is not included in the meal swipe. For example, if you wanted a fancy.
Coffee or latte from Einstein's bagels when usually just a hot coffee and a bagel, will come with the meal swipe. That's a great way to use your Spartan dollars or at Starbucks for any drink that you would like. You can use your Spartan dollars just like regular money. Or if you run out of meal swipes, you can use your Spartan dollars to pay for that meal again, they do not roll over and you will get 100 per semester if that is your plan and then UT dollars are slightly different, you will have to put them into your account.
Yourself using money and you're my utampa account. Those can be used at the school store as well. It's just a little bit extra if you need. If you're running out of meal swipes, you're running out of Spartan dollars and your parents can fill that up for you, and those do roll over over your course at UT.
Give thank you Marcy. And then Keanu we got a question about the mailbox number you want to think that as well.
Yeah, the box number, so if you go to your work day account in the top right corner, there's a little it should probably be your picture. You can click on that and click your profile and if you go to contact I'm not sure if you'll see it now because mine came up after I started the school year.
But once you start, it'll say right under your. I believe it's under your T e-mail. It'll say the address of the school and it'll say box number, whatever it is.
OK, thank you and then Marcie we got a question about where printers will be located. You want to take that one.
Yes, printers are going to be located in each residence hall and then if you find yourself in a computer lab or in the Business School anywhere where there is a printer, you can also use that as well when you submit your document, you can swipe your card and it'll come out.
OK, thank you and then we got asked how to get in touch with roommates. So e-mail is the best way to get in touch with your roommates. I also use social media freshman year. I found my roommate on Instagram just using your first and last name was able Finder and then I had another roommate sophomore year and I was able to contact them through e-mail and get their social media. So either e-mail or social media. Whatever you're most comfortable with, but emailing will go directly to their Spartan e-mail account, so that was probably be the easiest way to get in touch with them.
OK, and we got asked what is the average pay for jobs on campus generally for all jobs on campus. Minimum wage is what you're going to receive. Eye work currently, aside from this job, I work for the gym as well. I get paid minimum wage. It was very easy to get jobs on campus. I didn't really have any trouble with it. You can always go directly to where you're finding the job where you want to work, the office or anything. Ask them as well, and then on work day there's tons of jobs. I was able to apply to and everything like that.
But the average pay that will get is minimum wage.
OK, we'll financial statements be updated. Yes, financial statements will be updated. Please keep a lookout and contact financial aid if you're worried about the correctness of your bill. They could handle all your problems there, and if they can't handle it, they usually will refer you to bursar's office. I've had referred to bursars from financial financial bursars, but through there they they were able to solve all your issues. I've had no trouble with anything like that.
And then your textbook list. They should be available in August.
OK, so we've got a few more questions again about everify. Just to clarify, Everify is a program required to be completed before you arrive on campus. It will be sent to your UT e-mail, which is the official communication for all students. If you're not seeing it in your direct inbox, you might have to check your other account. It's an outlook e-mail, so there's always little other columns. Sometimes my ever fight emails would get stuck in there. It's happened to me. Still. It happened to me this past semester when I was trying to complete an everify unit as well. So just be sure to check your other.
Problem, or if you still can't find these stolen gun that e-mail you can e-mail Wellness at utk.edu and they'll be able to help you out.
OK, and then we're getting questions about if you can have fridges and microwaves on campus. Carla, do you want to take that one?
So you are able to have one refrigerator and one microwave per person. Now as far as how many outlets are things, there are. Each room is a little bit different, so we recommend that you only bring your one. So that way you don't overload any of the outlets or any of the plugs, but you're more than welcome to bring a mini fridge and a microwave if you need any specific dimensions. Those are also listed on the resident side website.
OK, thank you and then we got a question, where can you purchase your parking pass? Kiana, do you wanna take that one?
Yeah, so just a reminder only first year students living on campus off campus can.
Have their car and you can register your car with campus safety to get a decal.
Yes, thank you and then we've got some questions about how many guests per room Carly do you want to take that as well?
Yes, so as far as how many guests you're able to have per room, so the amount of guests that you have is dependent upon you and your roommates. Comfortability. A lot of this is based upon what you and your roommate are comfortable with. So as long as they are OK with your guests, you are able to have however many you two agree on. Now you are responsible for the actions of your guest as a resident. So if your your guest can only stay 3 consecutive nights within.
I'm trying to remember within 15 and then 15 total nights of the semester, so that's kind of the official policy, but a lot of this is based upon your roommate and you and what you two decide is comfortable. So if your roommate is not comfortable with guests, that is something that you need to be willing to understand and be able to find spaces on campus where you can comfortably spend time with your friends. But if your roommate is comfortable with guests, and that's a completely different conversation.
OK, thank you and then I we just are also getting some questions about if you can have air fryers in the room do you want to talk about that as well?
Yes, so this is kind of specific, but you are technically able to have an air fryer, but there's just a specific type so the air fryers that look like toaster ovens where when you open them they remain on. Those are not allowed because toaster ovens are not allowed. The point in that is that when you open them, they do not turn off, so you can still burn yourself. You can still hurt yourself. There's a lot of room for something bad to happen, but the air fryers that look like the eggs where you can kind of pull out the little thing and it turns off.
Automatically those are OK, so I hope that was clear.
OK, thank you and then. Marcy, do you want to talk a little bit about the gym classes?
I just want to touch on that a little bit as well since I work for the gym. The classes usually sign ups go about 1/2 hour before they open. You can just walk into the gym and sign your name on a sheet. I'll be right at the front desk when you walk in if you want to go to that class and then if you have any questions about the classes or anything you can call the gym. The number is on the UT website. You can give us a call at any time. We'll answer any questions we have about the schedule. The Who is putting on the class, anything like that. And just like I said, I want to just reiterate that it's only 1/2 hour beforehand we have.
A lot of students come in and try to sign up for classes on the beginning of the day, but they the sign out sheet only goes out 1/2 hour before the actual class begins.
OK, and then Jenna did. You want to take the question about how to get IDs?
Yeah, so for everybody living on campus. They will give you your ID once you check into your residence hall and for off campus students you will get them at a commuter check in taking place between August 24th and August 26th and the Spartan Club which is on the 2nd floor of the Bond Center and it'll be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Carly, do you want to talk a little bit about housing during the breaks?
Yes, so we do not close completely to where you need to move out. All of your belongings during breaks, but as far As for winter break we you will not be able to access your room for that month that you are not here, so make sure that you take any belongings that you will need for that month, but you do not need to move out at all. And then as far as Thanksgiving break and spring break we are open. You are more than welcome to stay. In fact Campus is a little quiet during those couple of weeks. If you want to be here so that's a little bit about breaks.
We do not close completely for winter break, but we do close for or we close as in you cannot be on campus during winter break and then for summer we close completely as well. So I hope that was clear.
OK, thank you so much and we got asked one of the trip to IKEA. So the IKEA trip is August 29th. It's the first day of classes from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM. This is a special event just for UT students. You will get a free meal giveaways and you can enter to win prizes. You can look more at the week of welcome schedule for our information. When you arrive on campus. So excited, you asked about this and then the trip for this one. The IKEA trip and then the target or Walmart trip. Anything like that is typically just during the week of welcome. This isn't going to be.
Semester long trips, like they're not scheduled out, it's just for the week of welcome.
OK, and then I see a few questions about how to change your class schedule and you want to take that one.
OK, thank you Aaron. We got asked how will you bring your IKEA stuff back so the trip is done in a coach bus and you can put your bigger items below the bus.
And then how long does online orientation take? It takes about 60 to 90 minutes and opens on August 1st. You'll get an e-mail about how to access that once it opens.
We have some questions about their move and time. Again, Carly, do you want to take that one?
Aaron Lopez

Drop-in hours for Summer starting May 16:
Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST
Last Thursday of the month: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST
Zoom link: https://utampa.zoom.us/j/8132575757
Yes, so if you are unsure about your move in time or if you signed up for a time and you cannot remember, then you can contact the residence Life Office with our residence life e-mail posted below. The reslife at ut.edu and so that will hopefully help you remind when you're moving appointment is.
Thank you and then Carly is well, we're getting some questions about. If you have to move out a semester to semester and then also if sperm will be open during the break. So if you just want to reiterate kind of when the residence halls will be open.
Of course, so the residence halls are open for all of our students during the semester, so during the fall and the spring semester we do you all leave for winter break and you do not need to move out completely. All of your belongings can stay in your individual residence hall room. You just need to bring any belongings with you that you will need for those few weeks that you will be gone.
Now when is winter break so winter break is from December 16th to January 14th. So almost a month and you can apply for winter break housing. But you do need to pay to live on campus during that winter break period. So that is one option for you. And then we are open. Also during the spring semester. So we're open during Thanksgiving break spring break. But during that winter break when you are not taking classes, that is when you all will go home for the break unless you apply to and pay to live on campus for winter break housing.
OK, thank you. We got asked how comfortable the teachers with students eating during class that's up to your individual professor. We can't really know that your professor will kind of go over that during syllabus week. The first week of class. Or it could be directly outlined in the syllabus. They're not comfortable with it at all.
So just ask your individual professors once class starts if they're comfortable with you eating or not, and they'll be able to give you direct answer on that.
OK, and then we're getting some questions about the box numbers and being able to mail things. Kiana you want to go over that again.
Yeah, sure. So if you go on to your work day, there's like a little people icon in the top right corner. If you click that then you click view profile and you Scroll down to contact it. Should say I believe it's institutional contact information and your UT e-mail will come up and it's right under that you might not see it now, but you'll definitely see it.
OK, thank you. And then Marcie you want to kind of go over how to find the dining in gym hours.
Lucia White
07:43:28 PM
You can find all breaks, openings/closings and important dates on the academic calendar! https://www.ut.edu/about-ut/university-services/office-of-the-registrar/academic-calendar
OK, thank you and then Carly. Do you want to go over when Thanksgiving break and spring break is? And then once again? I think there's still some confusion with students and having the same housing over winter break and semester semester.
Yes, so to clarify, your housing assignment is for the entire year, so the housing assignment that you receive is for the fall and the spring semester. Because you signed a contract for the 2022 to 2023 academic year. Now for the spring break which is.
December 16th through January 14th. You typically do not take classes. They do offer classes during winter break. It is a little different, but you are able to apply to live on campus and stay in your regular room during that winter break time. It just costs more money now as far as Thanksgiving and spring break. Thanksgiving break is November 23rd through the 27th and spring break is March 5th through the 12th. During both of those weeks you are more than welcome to stay in your residence halls.
Room we do not close. You're able to access everything so.
I think was there another question in that?
And then just how to access the calendar as well? There's a few people that have some confusion on the calendar.
Yes, so yes perfect. So as far as to see when your spring classes start, which is when you would be returning back for the spring semester. All of those important dates the opening and Closings of the residence halls. Everything is listed on the website that Lucia put in the chat. You can type in University of Tampa academic calendar and it will pull you to it, but Lucia has put the direct link in the chat that I highly recommend you check out.
Once again, we just have a few questions again about the exact winter break dates and if they can stay on campus later then when winter break starts.
The dates of winter break are December 16th through January 14th. If you are staying any later than December 16th or Jane, or you want to come back any earlier than January 14th, you will need to apply for winter break housing.
When you leave at the end of the fall semester.
Your access for the residence hall gets turned off, so if you would like to be here any later than that date or you would like to come back any earlier, you will need to apply and pay for winter break housing because otherwise you will not have access to your residence hall room.
Which is the same room that you move into and fall that you will be in in spring.
OK, thank you so much. So we have some questions about payment for the fall semester, so payments for the fall semester are due August 26, so by August 26 you should have your payment figured out or your payment plan of being applied to the online payments are also made through work day. You can look at it under your finance finances. That will also have all the information on your scholarships and everything, so all your financial information is on work day.
Uh, we got it. Thanks for the great event. Thank you guys so much again, we really just want to thank you for the great questions as well.
So we have a question about if classes are being offered during winter break and you want to kind of cover, uh, when classes will be offered.
OK, thank you and then I've taken some classes during the winter break as well. We also have many classes in summer classes as well. They're just not the typical class schedule like Aaron said. So you need to be sure that if your plan on taking a class during the winter or the summer, make sure that it's actually offered during that term. Because I've had a few times where this class is that I think I can take that aren't actually offered. So just make sure to check on that in the catalogs when they come out.
OK, and then once again to reiterate, all online payments are made through work day and all balances are due by August 26. They can make payments now up until then if they want to break it up. Or you can just pay it all in one lump sum.
OK, and then Kiana. Do you want to talk a little bit about the online payments and the textbook list?
Yeah, so all the payments like Kayla just said are due on August 26 and the textbook list you should be getting that sometime in August, but it will definitely be before you start class so don't worry.
And then once again with textbooks, I just want to reiterate that some classes they have textbooks there, but you won't actually need them. So that happened to me a few times. Freshman year. I would buy the textbooks ahead of time and then read the syllabus or get to class and textbook wouldn't be required. And then I wouldn't really use them throughout the year. So I just want to emphasize checking your syllabus. They will really outline if the textbook is required, not directly in the syllabus most times. So just check that and then if you're really still confused, you can always e-mail your professor directly and see if the textbook.
Will be required or not? Or if it's just an optional text.
OK, and then we have some questions about senior roommate response on roommate matching questions. Carla, do you want to take that over?
Yes, so that information won't be listed on your residence or anything because that is your roommate's personal information, but you can contact the office of Residence life at reslife@ut.edu and we would love to help share some of that information with you and hopefully make that a little bit clearer. So yes, please feel free to reach out to us and we can provide that on a more individual basis.
OK and then Carla. Do you want to talk a little bit about applying for housing on the Reds life end for the next year?
Yes, so a lot of that information is shared with you via your Spartans e-mail, so I recommend that while up until your time leading up to your time at UT and all throughout your semesters, we recommend that you really check out your Spartan e-mail and you keep an eye on that. We'll share information about housing selection, which is typically a big event. You will be provided a selection time and you and your friends that you would like to live with. If you have a roommate group, you all will come together to select specific spaces in certain rooms.
Based upon availability, so more information about that comes out throughout the year, but I do not have exact dates at this moment, but though that information will be shared with you once you are here on campus, that that is our process.
OK, thank you and then another question again about who to contact if you haven't had your ever via e-mail, you e-mail Wellness at utk.edu. That's a Wellness at ut.edu and they'll help you out there. But be sure to check your other folder in your e-mail as well, because that's where a lot of my everify emails go, so it might just be in there.
Carly, you want to talk about if you're allowed to bring an instrument into your dorm like a guitar?
Yeah, sure, feel free. We would love to see some of your musical talent that maybe a conversation with your roommate. As far as maybe times of the day where you can play to ensure that there isn't any conflict with sleeping or studying, but you are more than welcome to bring your instruments and we would love to see you showcase some of that. So Yep, feel free.
OK, thank you and then Aaron, you want to talk a little bit about where to access your syllabi.
Lucia White

Everfi information can be found here - https://www.ut.edu/campus-life/student-services/wellness-services/everfi-prevention-and-education-programs
OK, thank you and then talking more about, uh, when professors will provide access to the classes. Don't panic. I've had my professors do it a day or two beforehand, and if there's anything to do or anything that they need you to do, they're really good with putting it out there ahead of time. Kind of giving you time to look over the syllabus and or anything, but the syllabus will be posted on Blackboard. Like you said, it'll be under your classes. You'll see them on Blackboard. You can just click on your class and usually the syllabus will just be popping up on the home page when you click on your class and then from there there's either a direct link to the syllabus.
Where they have it posted there for you to read through.
And then keana we got some questions about textbooks. So do you want to take that over?
Lucia White

Dining information - https://dining.ut.edu/
Yeah, so I recommend going to the bookstore on campus. It's in the von Center as soon as you walk through the front doors. It's right to your to your right side and it's on the 2nd floor. So if you go all the way to the back of the bookstore you can just go up the stairs. They're all in sections. Everything is very neatly there so you can just get them from there.
I also recommend going on other sites to look for books you can go like to McGraw Hill. I've gotten books from like Amazon like actually reading books that I know I'll use again, so.

Gym and campus recreation - https://www.ut.edu/campus-life/recreation
OK, thank you and then we got a question about like how to turn in work. That'll be all handled by your professors. They'll outline where the work will be turned in, how to turn it in, everything like that. They'll go over it in detail and make sure that all you guys know how to turn in your work right. So once classes start, your professors will provide you with all that information, specifics on textbooks, syllabus, classes, everything like that, any workload you'll have. So just once the class is open, you'll be able to pretty much see it, and then once you get your professor's e-mail, you can always e-mail them with questions there.
Always been happy to help me.
OK, we're getting some questions about the on campus Health Center. So Carly, do you want to take that? I don't know if you know a lot about the campus Health Center.
I do not know much, but I know that you all have wonderful services provided there are the hours of the Health Center are available on the website. They are here all throughout the year and students are able to utilize those services at any time. They provide well, like a general realm of testing and services that you can utilize, including like physical health and mental health. So lots of different opportunities as far as insurance. I know there is some insurance offered to students that works.
Through there, but you may need to check with the Health Center specifically to ensure if your specific insurance is taken.

Wellness information - https://www.ut.edu/campus-life/student-services/dickey-health-and-wellness-center/medical-services
I hope that answered that question.
Thanks Carly. And then I know as well as of right now my personal experience with the Health Center has been that you go you kind of express your issue. Make an appointment and then usually the first visit you have. There's a $25 payment and that's the only payment that you usually make to them. So I've gone for things like strep throat. I got strep a lot throughout my college years. I'm just really prone to it. So I've frequented the Health Center quite often, so usually it's very simple. It's very easy there.
Always very helpful there, and you can make appointments so you're seeing pretty much directly when you get there. If you show up with your appointment time.
OK, Keanna do you want to talk a little bit about what to do if you test positive for COVID?
Yeah, so unfortunately I can speak say this from experience, so if you go on the UT website and you look up rapid trace, you can look for their number. It'll be there. Just call them, let them know. Hey I tested positive for COVID and campus security actually came to my dorm. Got me and they took me to where I was going to be quarantining and it was great because they even had some people come and fogged the room after I left so that my roommate was all good so.
OK, thank you and then. Just to clarify, whatever file is Everfi is an online portal teaching students critical life skills regarding things like alcohol abuse prevention, sexual assault prevention, and prescription drug abuse prevention and higher education. I've had to do it my first year and then if you're involved in some on campus.
Organizations like I'm involved in Greek life, so through the Greek life I'll be assigned more. Everybody everfi trainings as well. They're not super complicated, they're really helpful. They give me a lot of great information and they're super informative, so I've learned a lot from them over the years and they're really don't take that much time and are super important.
OK, I want to talk a little bit about the housekeeping in the rooms. I think there's some confusion on that one.
Yep, so for our on campus residence halls. We do provide a housekeeping service. This does typically stick to the bathroom so they come in and sanitize the bathroom as that is your shared space. But as far as your individual bedroom, that is your responsibility. Now, residents at the Barrymore do have a different process, but residents that are in our various halls here on main campus. They receive it for the bathroom and that is once a week.
And and toilet paper is provided. I believe if you need it. So just wanted to. I think that is included like if that is something that you need that week. Sometimes housekeeping has that available for you.
Yeah, there's definitely toilet paper. I had an excess of toilet paper freshman year because we got a new one each week and they were very big roles, so I don't think you'll have any issues getting toilet paper in your rooms.
OK, so to touch more on prescriptions. Many prescriptions were in the Health Center by the medical providers can be filled on campus for a minimal copay. This service is based on availability, availability of the medications as well. You might also take prescriptions to any drugstore. There's a Walgreens that's located three blocks away on Platt St, and that's well within walking distance. I've walked there many times. I really have had no issues walking there. It is hot, but it's only three blocks away and I've had no issues with the pharmacy there or getting any type of prescriptions filled.
We also have capsule pharmacy which is a free prescription delivery service. If you don't feel like walking through blocks over to Walgreens, you can go to capsule.com. That's capsule CAPSU le.com to get started. And then there's also CVS on Swan Ave in Old Hyde Park Village and a Walmart marketplace on Kennedy Blvd. So just when you're getting a prescription sent you can kind of look and talk to your provider as well to see if they have anywhere that they can send your prescription. That's close to campus.
OK, are there cleaning supplies provided in your room? Carly, do you want to talk about that one?
Yes, so typically, no, we do not provide that for you now. Down in each residence hall there is a desk and the front of your building. You are always more than welcome to stop by your desk and see if they have any supplies like that to check out, but typically those are things that you have on your own that you utilize to maintain the cleanliness of your space individually.
Thank you and then I'll get some more questions about how to sign up for specific jobs on campus so you would have to go through work day and apply through jobs on there. That's where most of the job opening openings are offered. If you're really interested about it, you can stop and talk to someone that works in that position as well. Once you're on campus, that's how I found out that the job the gym was hiring my freshman year, I went into the gym and I just kind of asked about how you get the job there. How do you work there? And then I was able to apply for your work day and get hired pretty quickly and ended up loving the job. And I still worked there.
As a senior, so it's definitely been really easy and very convenient to get an on campus position like that for positions that are more specific, like the laser team job which have few of you have asked about, I would stop someone that works with laser team on campus to ask them about it more specifically, or if there's a job opening on work day you can apply directly through there. That's how they find most of their employees.
So prescriptions are we're getting some more. A lot of questions about prescriptions being sent. Prescriptions are run through the UK insurance first, or if you're filling off campus, you can ask the pharmacy to use your personal insurance. I personally filled all of mine off campus and have them go through my personal insurance just because that was what's easier for me, and especially when it's prescriptions that you've already had prescribed to you for awhile, such as getting refills or anything. It's just easier to have them go through your personal insurance at a place like Walgreens or CVS.
OK, we got a question about where can bikes be stored and is it safe to park outside?
I know there's a lot of bike racks on campus. I don't know of any specific locations off hand, but they're all. They're really convenient locations. There's one outside Vaughan Center, and so you can just find one of those. I get a bike lock definitely if you're going to lose that. I had so many friends that had their bikes stolen outside of their house or off campus. Things like that. So definitely invest in a bike lock if you're going to bring a bike down and it is definitely safe to park your bikes outside as long as you do have a bike lock on if they're out there for a while without a lock, someone could always come by and.
Walk and take it. That's not our responsibility. That's the responsibility of you to make sure that your personal belonging is safe.
Also, Smiley I lived in Smiley last semester and if you go to the end where all the you'll see, we're all like the tables and chairs are. It'll be right in front of that.
In addition to that, there is a giant bike storage space in the parking garage right across from campus safety, so we do recommend if you bring your bike that you register it with campus safety so that in the instance that anything happens to it, they already have the information and they can hopefully help you with that. But we cannot recommend enough that you bring a hefty bike lock.
Now once again, just definitely emphasis on the bike lock on campus is still on campus, but especially if you take it anywhere like the city, there's always people that will take your bike. People have taken it outside of my house outside of my friend's houses, so really, that bike lock is going to be your saving grace if you have a bike.
So we have a question about how do you drop an added class error? Do you want to reiterate that one again?
Yes, sorry. I was just researching it so I'm gonna put I. I found a link for for some work day tutorials for every student to go through. There's some videos, there's some self-paced modules you can go through to show you how to go through and make changes to your schedule, how to search for courses, add classes, drop classes and I just want to state again for the fall. Freshman in the fall 2022. Freshman admits you will not be able to make your own schedule changes until August 22nd.
But then after that then you can but in the meantime you can. You can review the material I'm about to post for you.
OK, thank you Aaron Kiana. Do you want to talk a little bit more about what laser team is?
Aaron Lopez

Workday Tutorials:
https://www.ut.edu/about-ut/university-services/information-technology-and-security/enterprise-solutions/workday
Yeah, so laser beam is actually very very convenient service and you can just call them up. The number is on the UT website. You can just search it up right there and you can just call them and say you know, hey, I'm at. You know Starbucks. Obviously on campus or you can say I'm at Smiley hot and I need to go to wherever and they will come get you, give her, give them about 5-10 minutes and they will come get you and take you wherever you want to go on campus.
Thank you kiana. So we got a question, but if you can have a moped, ah, you cannot have a moped, scooter hoverboard, or any type of personal motorized scooter on campus at all.
And then, just to reiterate about packages on move in day, I've had no trouble actually getting my packages from the Mail Office once they're shipped there, but it does get very busy, especially during move in day, the lines get very long. People all like to have their things shipped there, especially bigger items, so the lines get very long, just really anticipate that and then, especially during certain times of the semester when there's a break between classes, things like that's like get very long as well. So just be sure to anticipate a long lines or a longer wait.
OK, and then we got a question about renting cars. Carly, do you want to talk a little bit about that?
You can come, my camera is on.
Yes, so I don't know about renting a car through like enterprise and like external companies, but the University of Tampa does have an affiliated relationship with this company called Zipcar, where there are cars on campus that students can come and rent and utilize for a certain period of time. There is an app for Zipcar that you can utilize on the University of Tampa is more like a location for Zipcar, so if you would like to rent the car you need to do that through the Zipcar company specifically.
But there are locations across campuses where across campus where there are vehicles parked in Zipcar parking spots that you can go up with the app, rent out the car for a certain period of time, whether that be for an hour or two to do some grocery shopping or even overnight if needed. The pricing depends on how long, so I recommend that you look that up on the UT website, but you can rent a Zipcar. Typically it's through the app and then it provides you access to the car where the key is inside, and then whenever you are done with your vehicle for that period of time, you just park it back in that Zipcar parking spot.
And you're all good to go. Renting a car under 25 can be tricky, but Zipcar tries to do it as easy as possible, so that is information I have. If you would like to look at external companies that will have to be on your own and not through the university.
OK, thank you and then, just to reiterate more on having items shipped, you can do it. It's possible, I've done it, but once again there will be very long lines and there will be a lot of other students. Have anything shipped as well, so if it's something that you really worried about getting or that you really need, it would be much easier to just get down to Tampa first. Come into your dorm and then shop from there and be able to bring it directly to your dorm.
It's going to be a little bit harder if there's something that you really need or something that's very important, because there is always just a ton of packages and things you can easily get lost or misplaced.
Thank you OK and then keanna. Do you want to talk a little bit more about laser team again just before you start? I can't emphasize enough how much I love utilizing laser team. It's so convenient and I'm pretty sure the number is on the back of your Spartan card too. If not, it's on the website and I just always had it in my notes so it was super easy to get a hold of them.
Yeah, take it like you said, I believe I forgot about that. It is on the back of your card. You can always go on the UC website. They'll have everything you need. You can look it up. And yeah, laser team will take you anywhere on campus. I've called them before from Starbucks to take me to smiley me. Being lazy and just not wanting to walk. They are great though. Come around in their golf cart and they're more than happy to take you wherever you need to go on campus.
OK, thank you and then this you want to talk a little bit more about the move in.
Yeah, definitely. So we are so excited to welcome you all to campus. Moving is definitely a process that we like to give you all as much information on as possible because it can be very stressful. I know when I was a brand new student I had no idea what was going on and it freaked me and my mother out. So what's going to happen is like we talked about previously. You will get an appointment time. We cannot stress enough to please keep within your appointment time window. I know people are excited and want to get here right in the morning, but if we have all the students coming at once, it does.
Yeah, really congested on campus, so the biggest tip I want to give is please make sure that you arrive at your appointment time. What's going to happen is there's going to be tons of people on campus. Campus safety directing you. They'll be signs and you can also visit the YouTube website for move in maps and that will give you a specific map kind of of each building and how you access it. What place to come on from campus etcetera. So you will pull up. You'll be given a parking pass and you will put that in the front dashboard of your car.
And then you're going to have a bunch of students, and part of the move in team and our week of welcome leaders that will come and get all the things out of your car. Help you put them on carts and everything. Your goal is to get everything out of the car as quickly as possible, because your car cannot stay in front of the building. So once you get everything out of the car, someone that is with you that is moving in will move the car into one of the parking garages and then you will be able to be with the students and your other guests that are helping you move stuff in. And so I hope that answered.
Removing question and essentially you can have all the time you need to like move stuff around in your room, everything like that, but the goal is to get your car unloaded as quickly as possible so we can make sure we have enough room for everyone and Carla. You can touch on anything. If I missed any.
I will tell you it's almost like Lucio works for residence life, but I could not stress that enough. I will tell you we are just as excited for moving as you are. We can't wait to have you on campus if you are worried about traffic flow. Just like Lucia said, those move in maps will help you understand a little bit of where I can pull in. But I promise you campus safety won't let you go anywhere you're not supposed to go on campus those days. So that is why just as a reminder, we don't allow you to bring any box or moving trucks just because that space on campus.
Is highly limited during those couple of days, so we're really excited to see you if once again, if you have any concerns or questions about your move in time or you're unsure about it, what you signed up for, please reach out to residents life. We want to make sure that you're ready to go and you're here.
Also, I saw there was one more thing you could technically bring as many people as you like. We do not have a limit due to COVID anymore, but you know more cooks in the kitchen, less room to put stuff around so just just keep that in mind. But if you want to bring your whole squad we are ready to welcome them.
Thank you and if you're worried about having enough people to kind of get everything out of the car because those been emphasized, though like a welcome, leaders that are there to help you, they're really helpful. They know what they're doing. A lot of them have done it before I did it last fall, and it's really. We just kind of want to get it done. Kind of want to get it out of there. Plus it's very hot outside so we will help you get things out of your car.
Fast as possible and into that air conditioning, so no worries about not having enough people to bring things in, especially if you have a lot of items. I know I had definitely way too much my freshman year.
OK, Keanna do you want to talk a little bit about the shuttle services offered?
Yeah, so there's a shuttle service to and from the Henry, which is one of the residence buildings, but it's off campus and there's another shuttle service to and from the Barrymore Hotel, which is about 3-4 blocks, give or take from the school. And you can just wait outside of the von center and it will come there. You'll trust me? You'll know when it's there because it's a big red bus for the Henry.
And the Big Blue bus for the Berry. More so it'll just come there. Pick you up and it'll take you straight to the doors of either the Henry or the Barrymore.
Now for the baby. More shuttle. If you would like to know specific times, it tends to be on the 15 and the 45 of each hour, and then there are certain times of the day where they try to just go continuously because we get pretty busy. But in theory they're coming at least on the 15 and the 45 of each hour just so that you're looking. If you're looking for the Barrymore one as far as the Henry, I agree. If it feels like anytime you're outside, the Henry shuttle is there so they will make sure that you get to where you need to go.
OK, thank you and then we got asked if you need specific type of computer. There's really no recommended type of computer at UT. Just one that has Wi-Fi capability and is portal, so not something too big, too bulky. Probably because there's a lot of walking to and from classes to and from study rooms. Things like that and then a lot of people use laptops or tablets. Tablets are fine too. It's kind of your personal preference and then I personally always use the Mac, but I've seen people use Windows, Chromebooks, anything like that, just basically anything.
That you prefer that accesses the Internet so you have access to blackboard, Maya, Tampa, work day, all your classes, everything like that.
OK, and then we got a question about if students can sleep in their room on moving day and kind of how that works. Carly, you want to touch on that.
Yep, so after you check into your residence hall at your appointment time, your room is yours. Once you get the keys to your residence hall room, we would love for you to stay the night on your first night and to get comfortable and settled in. So once you check in and you receive that key, you are more than welcome to stay in your room from that point forward. So we would love for you to come on that day and just go ahead and get comfortable and settled. And as far as kind of the location of the different residence halls now close or far they are. There are maps provided on the website, but our residence halls.
Are pretty close together. There are a couple on some different parts of campus depending on the view, but they are pretty centrally located and relatively close to one another.
OK, thank you so much and then I see we have another question about Austin Hall and kind of the layout so you can see the layouts actually like they have a full layout and everything on the UT website. So if you go there you can kind of see what your rooms look like kind of picture it out there and it was really helpful for me to kind of know what space I would have and everything. But I personally lived in Austin and so for the triples they had two closets. They had one closet built in and then there was two wardrobes.
If I remember correctly, I don't know if that's correct. Carla, if you want to correct me on that, you can.
I'm gonna say Kayla's really pretty close so you may have a combination of either 2 built in closets and one armoire, or one built in closet and two armoires regardless of kind of that different variety, there will be a closet space per student. It just they may look a little different for each one so you will have a closet space. It just could either be a built in closet or a wardrobe that you're able to open up and put your belongings in so it kind of depends on your room.
Yeah, thank you so much and then when do food services start and will they be open on movement days? You can find all the hours again on the UT website. If you go to dining.ut.edu it has all the updated hours and everything and then meal plan should start on the 24th. Pretty positive about that but you can also find more information about meal plans and everything on the website as well. There's a lot of information posted there and if there's any more confusion after that you can always refer back to this live.
That or emailed office orientation.
And yes, just to clarify, they will be open all the dining services will be open during move in.
OK, so we have this is a good question. Do residence halls have bathrooms outside of the ones that are actually attached to the rooms? Carly do want to talk a little bit more about that one.
Yep, so you will have your own individual bathroom that is inside of your space and then in each residence hall there tend to be community bathrooms not like communal where like all of you on the floor share a bathroom but community as in there are like open bathrooms on some of the floors, sometimes in the lobby spaces so each residence hall does have like a general bathroom like let's say like your parents are coming to visit you and they're coming right in the door. There's normally a bathroom over there that somebody can use so there are like general bathrooms provided in lobby spaces and sometimes on different floors.
And then you have your inside bathroom, but there are no like communal bathrooms where you may see other institutions where like everybody on the floor shares a bathroom.
OK, thank you and then Angel asks if they're betting will be in their room. OCM linens will be delivered directly to your room, so when you get there it should be in your room upon your arrival.
OK, thank you everyone. I just want to put a call out for any final questions. Anything that you want to ask, just get it out now.
So we can just kind of get the last of the questions out of the way, so Brian asks our thumbtacks allowed on the wall, so you want to go over this one, Carly.
Yep, so we kind of. We always recommend that thumbtacks, nails screws anything like that that creates a whole of. We recommend that you do not bring any of those because there could be a damage charge at the end of the semester for any holes created by those you are able to have posters, pictures, anything hung in your room. We just ask that you use blue painters tape or command strips because those cause the least damage into a space as far as OK.
Y'all really went hard on those questions, so as far as people staying in your room, you are welcome to have visitors. The amount of visitors or whether your visitor can be in the space and how long they can be in this space is based upon you and your roommate and what you two agree on. So if your roommate is comfortable with you having guests, you are more than welcome to have guests for any period of time, whether that be for a couple of hours to hang out or for the evening to stay the night. But this comfortability once again, I truly cannot stress this enough is based upon you and your roommate, so if your roommate is not comfortable with guests, that is something that you need to understand, and you two need to work through.
As far as you sleep over in a friend's dorm, it is the same thing or residence hall. It is the same conversation of your friend is a resident with a roommate, so as long as their roommate is OK with you being over there, you're more than welcome to be a guest in your friend's residence hall. But once again, you are a guest, so they must escort you through the hall because you do not currently live there.
Each residence hall has that opportunity, but your room designation changes your price. So if you currently live in a double or a triple and you would like to live in a single, that is a different cost, and so if you are interested in any of those changes, our open room change process will be open two to three weeks after the semester starts and we can help get you figured out in some of those spaces. If spaces allow, but Please note that there is a cost difference based on the designation of your room.
And as far as the limit of guests, once again, that truly depends on your roommate. I mean, you know, just be considerate of the amount of space that you have and how many people you may want to bring in. But the amount of guests, how long they stay that and whether or not they are allowed, that depends on you and your roommate, and the comfortability of both of you.
OK, thank you so much. Carly Marcy. Do you want to talk a little bit about the tacky stuff? And then the clubsports fair?
OK, thank you so much and then we're getting questions about if there's curtains in the dorm rooms. And then if the residence halls are co-ed or not, do you want to kind of touch on that, Carly?
Yes, so as far as curtains on the windows we do provide blinds so kind of like this actually. So you should receive. You may have blinds. You may not. So we do ask that if you want to cover the windows like you know, finding an option that works for you. But as far as residence halls.
Let's open complaining with you.
They're air conditioning, but there are not many fridges, so if you would like a mini fridge, please bring one. But there are air conditioning units and controls in each room so you can control the comfortability of your space. But as far as our co-ed so our residence halls are co-ed to where both men and women live in the residence hall. As far as your room designation, you should be in a room with somebody that is this that shares the same gender as you. We do offer gender inclusive options, so if you are interested in gender inclusive room, please feel free to reach out to residents.
Life at ut.edu got you set-up in the right space, but it is all mixed as far as the floor so you could have a different group of residents of the opposite sex living. A couple of rooms down from you, so we are mixed in that way, but as far as our individual room and your individual space you should be with a resident of the same gender.
OK, thank you so much Carly. And then you just want to talk about. Umm, if every dorm has air conditioning and if every dorm will have a fridge.
Yep, so you should have air conditioning controls within each space, so you should be able to control the temperature completely. You should be good you would. You should be good. And then as far as mini fridges there are not many fridges provided in each room. So if you would like a mini fridge please bring that on your own. If you are looking for the dimensions of a mini fridge that fit, those are listed on our website and then as far as going back to the conversation.
About co-ed you will only share a room with somebody of your same gender and you will only share a bathroom with somebody of your same gender. So if you are sharing a bathroom with another room, that room next to you will be of the same gender, so I hope that that clears that up as well.
OK, do we have any other questions?
OK, this is a good one. Umm Carly, do you want to talk about what extension cords are allowed?
Yes, so we do ask. You can rent a fridge. We do do micro fridge rentals. I recommend you look on the website, but as far as extension cords we do ask that you bring the ones that are like surge protected. They tend to be grounded and you can kind of tell. Normally they'll have a switch or they'll kind of have lights that indicate when they're grounded or not. We ask that you bring a surge protector because that way if for any reason.
The club gets overwhelmed, a surge protector turns itself off, so that way it prevents anything bad from happening and those little like extension cords that you can just stick the little prongs in that are like tiny. Those sometimes get overwhelmed and that's not fun. So yes, you can bring search protectors and you can rent fridges. We do have a micro fridge rental through the micro fridge company, so I recommend you look that up on the website.
There do tend OK. Yeah, so the question is, do residence hall floors have community rooms? So most residents hall have a community space in the lobby or on various floors that you can access. It depends on each residence hall that you're in, but there is at least one community space in each building that you're able to utilize and have fun and hang out and do anything that you'd like in there within within the policies.
OK, I think that these will be on the last two questions or the last three questions. I guess our shower liners and hooks provider. Do we bring your own and your rooms have the proper wall outlets for TV's? Do you want to take that one, Carly?
Yep, no problem. So as far as shower liners and hooks provided, I recommend that you bring your own. You may have one in your residence hall. I cannot guarantee where it came from, so I highly recommend that you bring your own shower liner and hooks. And now you will be sharing a bathroom with multiple people. Probably so if you would like to communicate with those to see which one of you wants to bring it, that is more than fine. And then do rooms have the proper wall outlets for TV? The answer is yes, you are more than welcome to bring your TV.
Life in College is a learner with the TV, so you are more than welcome to bring it. It should be able to set-up look up and that should be good. And then yes, I think I answered that question.
OK, thank you so much and then, uh, further question or transfer sophomores that have their car on campus transfer. Students are not allowed to have their car on campus.
And then to check your UTT e-mail you can just log in. I have the outlook e-mail on my phone so I was able to just log in there and I have the Outlook app and all of it comes directly to my phone so it's super easy to check your e-mail.
And then you want to talk a little bit more about specifically how to get into your Gmail.
Oh yeah, I was just going to say the same thing. I downloaded it on my phone, which was great because sometimes I would miss emails. Or if you have something important or just whatever it may be, it's just great for her to go to your phone and you could see it right away. I would answer emails either leaving class or just in the gym or whenever so.

Outlook by Microsoft
Yeah, I really can't stress the importance enough of having the app on your phone, especially when there's information being sent out, like classes cancelled because I've walked up into my classes and not seen the e-mail. That class was cancelled or anything like that. It's just the Outlook app because it's an outlook e-mail so it's super easy to get to easy to download and then very easy to log in. You just log in with your e-mail. It's usually yourfirst.lastnameasspartans.utah.edu and then with whatever.
Password you had for that e-mail as well.
And then Carly. Do you want to talk about cable service?
So there should be a cable hookup in each room. We do have cable service which is like local channels like very basic cable, but you are able to hook that up and get that ready and enjoy. You know, Bachelor Mondays in the residence hall rooms. So yes.
Alright, perfect thank you so much and then just emphasize again about the app. It's just the Outlook app. And then when I went to actually log into the app I put my e-mail in and it brought me right to my utampa which is our organization sign in Page. So I was able to sign in through there and then they probably write to my e-mail and then you can also put multiple accounts on the outlook apps if you already have an outlook e-mail. I have my personal e-mail in there and then my school e-mail as well.
Alright, I think that's all that we have for questions we see a Lucido want to wrap it up for us.
Thank you all so much for coming. We're so glad that we were able to answer these questions. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to any of the emails below. I would like to thank our panelists for coming out tonight and spending their night with us. We're so excited to welcome you all and we will see you all very soon. I hope you have a great night. Thank you.
